The Chalice ChoirThe Chalice Choir performs two Sundays a month from
September until June. Old Choir Selections:The following are a small sample of the music the Chalice Choir has performed over the last year. This is intended to provide examples of the type and complexity of the music we have been performing. The Chalice Choir performed three songs at this year Southern Ca. Unitarian Universalist choral festival at First Unitarian Universalist church in San Diego. Note these are midi files.
Other songs we have performed this year were:
Choir Practices:The choir practices one night a week during the September until June time frame. We currently meeting on Thursdays from 7:30pm until 9:00pm. In addition the choir practice, choir members are provided with Noteworthy Composer files that may be played on the computer. Noteworthy provides free player software that displays plays musical pieces (kind of like follow the bouncing ball). Several of the choir members volunteer time to provide these files. For each piece we perform we generate five files. One with each of the individual parts (SATB) and one file with all the parts together and usually the accompaniment. The individual parts have two staffs, one with that part and another with a woodblock keeping a constant time to help you count. The intention is that you first learn your part using the individual part file, and then practice it with the all parts file to get used to singing your part with the confusion of three other parts going on at the same time. The advantage of this is that the choir has a chance to get familiar with pieces before rehearsals and also provides a mechanism to aid home practice. |
