The Joy of Collective Action

The connection we have to each other in this congregation is important and powerful.  Today we celebrate Earth Day by looking at how Collective Action can lead to deeper connection personally and greater impact for good in the world.  Chalice member Clint Fultz and CFROG representative Abrah Steward will catch us up on the work of this local organization.  This, in turn, gives us a chance to consider how joining together can be a vehicle to manifesting greater joy in our lives.

Chalice Lighting

We light this chalice—symbol of our faith alive in this world—
naming our vision of collective liberation,
and daring to re-member each other into beloved community.

~ Deanna Vandiver

Many Mansions - Seeking Volunteers!

Many Mansions would like to extend an invitation to Chalice for a special volunteer opportunity for Thrive Grove, East Ventura County’s first homeless shelter. IKEA has generously designed and donated all furnishings for the site, and we are seeking volunteers to help assemble and stage these furnishings, in preparation for participants' arrival!

We will be hosting this project on Thursday, May 1 from 9am to 12pm AND 1pm-4pm. For interested volunteers, please have them sign up with

this link, selecting one or more shifts.

This project will involve lifting up to 25lbs, sitting on the ground, and assembling furniture – with assistance from IKEA staff. We want to make sure all volunteers know this information prior to signing up.

Thrive Grove will welcome 30 participants on their journey towards permanent housing. This important project is an initiative of the City of Thousand Oaks and has been featured in numerous newspaper articles in the past two years. If you’d like to learn more about Thrive Grove, check out this video or this VC Reporter article
