Juneteenth Should be a National Holiday

with Sam Dickerson & Rev. Nica Eaton-Guinn

How is it that we celebrate Independence Day on July 4, yet we don’t make Juneteenth – the official anniversary of the abolition of slavery – a national holiday of freedom? This is the true independence day for all. It is something our nation should be proud of, not sweep under the carpet. Today, we celebrate this important commemoration and encourage it to emerge as one of our nation’s holy days. This Father’s day, we also honor and revere all the fathers among us.

Father's Day: 5 things you didn't know you didn't know about the holiday - Vox

Happy Father’s Day…

To the working dads, stay at home dads

To the older dads, younger dads

To the granddads, great granddads, and beyond

To the dads by birth, dads by adoption, and dads by marriage

To the families with two dads, and the moms who acted as dads

To the dads who don’t realize they are dads thanks to their love and mentorship

To the dads still with us, and those that have died

To all these dads and every one in-between,

Thank you for being our hero.

Our mission: Religious Education empowers children and youth and supports families with tools to create a world of justice and compassion.
