March 10–
Grow a Hope Garden – Plants end when they die, but they leave seeds to begin new plants. Seeing flowers and vegetables and trees grow again and again gives us hope for a better future. This Sunday we are not just going to plant seeds but also a hope garden.
You can always see what’s happening in the coming weeks by picking up an RE events calendar in the foyer of our Sanctuary.
Each week we will offer book suggestions for all ages, books that celebrate diverse identities, resist stereotypes, and uplift social justice. Whether you choose to purchase the books, borrow them from a friend, or check them out from your local library, we hope you enjoy these stories featuring characters from a wide range of communities.

Ramadan begins evening of March 10
Ramadan “is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (sawm), prayer, reflection, and community. A commemoration of Muhammad’s first revelation, the annual observance of Ramadan is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam and lasts twenty-nine to thirty days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next.” – wikipedia.org
Ramadan will conclude with Eid al-Fitr on April 9.

National Napping Day – March 11
“National Napping Day has its roots in the American culture and was first introduced in 1999 by William Anthony, Ph.D., a Boston University professor, and his wife Camille Anthony. They formed this observance to also help people adjust to daylight saving changes. Specifically, research shows that short naps can be a sensible response to the body’s setting to daylight saving time in America. The day encourages Americans to take a break from their hectic daily schedule and embrace a brief restorative nap to replenish the energy and reduce weariness.” – wincalendar.com
When we take care of ourselves, we are better equipped to take care of each other 🙂
