Religious Exploration at Chalice!

A place for wonder. A place for fun.

Welcome, welcome everyone!

Chalice Family Update

May 23, 2024

In the month of May, the Gift of Our Faith is Pluralism

Is It Non-Binary, Or Not?

Sunday morning at 10am

With Rev. Kikanza Nuri-Robins

Life is complicated, and sometimes confusing. When we try to oversimplify things, we lose the nuances and subtleties that often make the biggest differences. In the Western World, we are taught to think rationally, logically and in a binary fashion. Often, however, the answer to the question, is it this or is it that, is yes. Come and reflect on the value of resting in ambiguity. What might we learn from the Parodoxes of the East?

Families welcome! The Joy Corner is open!
Children will be led by the Lamp of Love to their RE spaces partway through the service.

May 26–

Maker Space – Build! Play! Explore! Imagine! Children will peruse the offerings of odds and ends–dowels, tubes, fabric, egg cartons, and so on–giving them space to create art or invent something useful. Whatever they want to do. Amazing things happen with a bit of glue and a lot of ingenuity.

Each week we will offer book suggestions for all ages, books that celebrate diverse identities, resist stereotypes, and uplift social justice. Whether you choose to purchase the books, borrow them from a friend, or check them out from your local library, we hope you enjoy these stories featuring characters from a wide range of communities.

*Credit given to RebekahGienapp.com for most suggestions

A Day of Rememberin’ by Leah Henderson (ages 6-10)

Mark you calendar – June 2 is our RE appreciation service

Each year we take time out to recognize our many Religious Exploration volunteers–those who work the front lines, behind the scenes, and everywhere in between. Our children are a big part of this time of gratitude as they will be helping to hand out tokens of gratitude to the adults who give of their time, talents, and big hearts. We will also be hearing from teens and adults who grew up in the congregation sharing their memories as well as hopes for future Chalice children and teens.

Thank you for trusting us with your children! They bring a bright and necessary light to our faith community.

A wonderful time for families and RE volunteers to laugh, play, and make memories!
