Chalice Family Update

August 21, 2025

In August, the theme is Summer Surprise

What Does Love Ask of Us Now?

Sunday morning at 10am

with Rev. Nica Eaton

Today we reflect on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and consider how we might respond. How can we stay grounded in our UU values while honoring the complexity, grief, and courage this moment demands? Join us as we open our hearts to a difficult conversation and explore thoughtful paths forward.

This is a welcoming space for people of all ages.

Children and youth have the option of staying for the entirety of the service or joining the Sunday WE program upstairs partway through.

Did you enjoy Sunday’s Time for All Ages?

It was wonderful to share our annual Blessing of the Backpacks with you all! We hope the heart charm reminds us all that all we do and say is guided by love. May this congregation’s love bring you courage and be a guiding light for you in the coming year.

If you were not able to attend the service this past Sunday, you may collect your charm during your next visit.

Why Do People Volunteer? — Keep Blount Beautiful

Wisdom Exploration is look for a couple volunteers

WE is looking for a couple more volunteers to add to our Sunday morning crew.

Are you interested in helping out in WE Grow or WE Wonder once or twice a month?

Do you know someone who would be a wonderful addition to the team?

If you’re curious about what goes on upstairs and are interested in being a part of the fun, speak with Sam Dickerson on an upcoming Sunday, or email her at dre@chaliceuu.org.

**UUA guidelines ask that WE volunteers be members of the congregation and have been active UUs for at least one year.**

Say cheese!

The staff at Chalice is working hard to update our website and brochures as we prepare for another year with our awesome community. This also means updating photos and images. We take your permission to share your image seriously! To help us upload photos appropriately, please take a few moments to fill out Chalice’s Media Release Form. If you filled this out last summer, please take a moment to look it over and update your information, if needed.

If you have concerns or questions regarding an image on our website, on Chalice social media, or in any of our print media, please contact Ana Johnson, admin@chaliceuu.org, or Sam Dickerson, dre@chaliceuu.org.

Thank you for your assistance!

Proudly brought to you by the UUA

The Woodlands is a monthly online gathering designed for trans children, youth, and adults—as well as the parents and caregivers of trans people. Each session will begin with a shared message and grounding ritual, followed by breakout rooms tailored to different communities within our circle, and we come back together for a release. Sessions will be about an hour and a half.

Each breakout room—co-facilitated by two chaplains—will offer space for meaningful check-ins where we can honor our grief, celebrate our joy, and support one another. The spirit of each room will reflect the people within it.
