A place for wonder. A place for fun.
Welcome, welcome everyone!
Chalice Family Update
August 28, 2025
In August, the theme is Summer Surprise
Food for the Soul
Sunday morning at 10am
with Ayanna Gaines
Some time back, Ayanna Gaines presented a service that centered on the concept of the soul: what it is and what do Unitarian Universalists believe about the soul. Now, Ayanna is revisiting the concept of the soul, this time from a popular culture perspective: why do we call Stevie Wonder’s songs “soul music,” or fried chicken “soul food”? How does this connect to the soul in our hearts?

This is a welcoming space for people of all ages.
Children and youth have the option of staying for the entirety of the service or joining the Sunday WE program upstairs partway through.
August 31–
It’s our final Summer Surprise before we begin a new year in WE!
Here’s your hint – Space for Makers
Did you enjoy Sunday’s Time for All Ages?
It was wonderful to share our annual Blessing of the Backpacks with you all! We hope the heart charm reminds us all that all we do and say is guided by love. May this congregation’s love bring you courage and be a guiding light for you in the coming year.
If you were not able to attend the service this past Sunday, you may collect your charm during your next visit.
Ingathering Service Sept. 7 @ 10am
followed by
Ingathering Picnic at Borchard Park
What a celebration! Welcome back as we begin a new year at Chalice!
Please bring a potluck item for the picnic, or you may contribute funds toward the purchase of fried chicken. Click the link below.

during WE, children, youth, and volunteers will set up a classic carnival booth where people can toss quarters on dishes to win silly prizes. The booth will be open for business after the service until noon or so. (It all depends on how busy we get!) Please plan on staying so that your children can participate in raising funds and help with cleaning up afterward.
All funds collected will be donated to Laundry Love. Laundry Love is a program offered through Friends of Fieldworkers. Events are held around El Rio and Oxnard as part of a national program focusing on providing no-cost laundry services to no or low-income people.
