So where are your children on Sundays?

As our WE program slowly grows (yay!) and we are now offering WE Grow and WE Wonder most Sundays, we are also using more spaces in and around our Chalice building. When the Lamp of Love guides our children and youth to their WE programs, they will often head off to one of several places: Room 4, the Nest, the patio, or the lawn (a new discovery tucked behind a neighboring building).

So, how will you know where your child is? You will now be able to check the WE Board in the entryway of Chalice where you will find the theme and group locations of that given Sunday. Of course, if your child or youth would rather stay with you in the service to enjoy the music and listen to Rev. Nica, that’s okay too! Faith development is whatever speaks to your spirit and heart, no matter where you are.

Proudly brought to you by the UUA

The Woodlands is a monthly online gathering designed for trans children, youth, and adults—as well as the parents and caregivers of trans people. Each session will begin with a shared message and grounding ritual, followed by breakout rooms tailored to different communities within our circle, and we come back together for a release. Sessions will be about an hour and a half.

Each breakout room—co-facilitated by two chaplains—will offer space for meaningful check-ins where we can honor our grief, celebrate our joy, and support one another. The spirit of each room will reflect the people within it.

Life is Better With You: Animal Blessing Service

Sunday, October 5, 10am

The unconditional love we receive from our animal friends and family members is a gift. In honor of all they have given us, today we offer them a blessing of love, happiness, and good health as we are reminded that our lives are so much better with animals. Please send us photos of your beloved pets, indicating whether they are alive or with the ancestors.

Please send in all photos to admin@chaliceuu.org by October 1. Photos must be labeled with pet’s name and whether they are alive or have passed.

Bagel Buddies is back!

During WE, children and youth will prepare bagels and supplies for the fundraiser. After the service, we will gather on the patio to sell and serve bagels and schmears to raise funds for a local organization and the WE Scholarship Fund.

It is appreciated if children and youth can please stay for 30-40 minutes after the service to help run the fundraiser as well as help with any clean up.

Having a good time doing good for the community!

John Murray (minister) - Wikipedia

This Day in Unitarian Universalist History…

September 30, 1770 – John Murray, an emigre from England, preached his first Universalist sermon in America when his boat ran aground at Cranberry Inlet, New jersey. There he met Thomas Potter, who had been waiting for God to send him a preacher with a message of universal salvation. This occasion is often used to mark the beginning of Universalism in America. ~ This Day in Unitarian Universalist History

Please enjoy this short story on John Murray, Thomas Potter, and the birth of Universalism in North America.
