Welcome to a new year at Chalice!
Ingathering: Coming Home
Sunday morning at 10am
with Rev. Nica Eaton
The poet, John O’Donohue wrote: “May the well of belonging be your source, a home that nourishes and sustains you.” This Ingathering Sunday we gather around a living fountain, reminding us of the source that nourishes and sustains our lives. Home is not only where we live, but where we are seen, loved, renewed and inspired. Today we come home to one another, for the new congregational year, celebrating this community and connections that sustains us. Join us for a joyful congregational picnic afterwards at Borchard Park.

This is a welcoming space for people of all ages.
Sunday’s service is an all ages service.
September 7–
It’s Ingathering! All children and youth will join their families in the service to participate in the service.
Afterward, we will gather at Borchard Park for an Ingathering Picnic.

During WE, children, youth, and volunteers will set up a classic carnival booth where people can toss quarters on dishes to win silly prizes. The booth will be open for business after the service until noon or so. (It all depends on how busy we get!) Please plan on staying so that your children can participate in raising funds and help with cleaning up afterward.
All funds collected will be donated to Laundry Love. Laundry Love is a program offered through Friends of Fieldworkers. Events are held around El Rio and Oxnard as part of a national program focusing on providing no-cost laundry services to no or low-income people.

So where are your children on Sundays?
As our WE program slowly grows (yay!) and we are now offering WE Grow and WE Wonder most Sundays, we are also using more spaces in and around our Chalice building. When the Lamp of Love guides our children and youth to their WE programs, they will often head off to one of several places: Room 4, the Nest, the patio, or the lawn (a new discovery tucked behind a neighboring building).
So, how will you know where your child is? You will now be able to check the WE Board in the entryway of Chalice where you will find the theme and group locations of that given Sunday. Of course, if your child or youth would rather stay with you in the service to enjoy the music and listen to Rev. Nica, that’s okay too! Faith development is whatever speaks to your spirit and heart, no matter where you are.
