Chumash Tomol, Canoe, Revitalization

Sunday morning at 10am

with Alan Salazar & Rev. Nica Eaton

It has been over 180 years since the Ventura Chumash community has built a tomol in Ventura. They are currently finishing their first tomol in over 180 years… “We are due!” writes Alan Salazar, Chumash elder, who will share this story with us for Indigenous People’s Day.

You can also view our Livestream on FB

This is a welcoming space for people of all ages.
Children and youth have the option of staying for the entirety of the service or joining the Sunday WE program upstairs partway through.

October 12–

Justice Sunday

This Sunday we will hold Bagel Buddies! All WE programs will begin their time together in Room 4 to prepare the bagels that will be sold after the service. We will also take time to discuss and vote on which local organization will receive half of the donations we collect. (The other half will go into the WE Scholarship Fund.)

After the bagel prep and vote, we will move down to the patio to set up our tables and get ready to collect donations and serve hungry people after the service.

Please plan ahead and consider staying an extra 30-40 minutes after the service so that the children and youth may have the opportunity to work on their justice project.

Having a good time doing good for the community!
