Dr. Kalki Subramaniam (Hon.), founder of Sahadori Foundation, will share her personal, professional and activist journey as a gender nonconforming person in India and the world. Kalki is an entrepreneur, activist, author, actor, artist and inspirational speaker. She initiated the Trans/hearts project and encourages transgender people to paint their untold stories on canvas. Kalki was one of the major campaigners behind the Indian Supreme Court’s verdict legalizing transgender identity and healthcare in India. Among her many accolades, Kalki was recognized in 2015 by Facebook Inc. as One of the 12 Most Inspiring Women on Social Media working on community development.
Local LGBTQ+ issues and resources will be discussed by representatives from Indivisible: Conejo, the LGBTQ+ Community Resource Center in Ventura and the FFLUID support group.
