Blossoms from the Mud:

Easter & Flower Celebration

Sunday morning at 10am

With Rev. Nica Eaton

Easter’s honoring of Christ’s death and rebirth is the ultimate story of transformation. Join us today as we explore our own tales of endings and new beginnings throughout life. Bring a flower to share in Unitarian Universalism’s ritual of transformation, our Flower Celebration.

Children will return from their RE spaces to participate in the flower ritual with their families.

Zoom ID: 209 555 249      Passcode: 2020

Livestream on FB: https://www.facebook.com/ChaliceUUF

Families welcome! The Joy Corner is open!
Children will be sung out partway through the service and led to their RE spaces.

March 31–

Blossoming Together – This Sunday we will plant lilies for our RE space, taking care of them together over the coming weeks and seeing how beautifully we all bloom. We’ll also start some really neat egg geodes and “bloom” colorful crystals.

Sunday’s RE session will be shortened so that children may rejoin their families for the flower ritual. Volunteers will guide children back to the Sanctuary. Don’t forget to bring your flowers!

Each week we will offer book suggestions for all ages, books that celebrate diverse identities, resist stereotypes, and uplift social justice. Whether you choose to purchase the books, borrow them from a friend, or check them out from your local library, we hope you enjoy these stories featuring characters from a wide range of communities.

Vintage School Desk

Free to a good home

As we transition many of our spaces in Fellowship Hall, we are finding that some of our things also need to transition to a new home.

Several years ago, Pamela Lopez and Matthew Weisman donating a lovely school desk (similar to the one pictured above). It has served it’s time well in Childspace, and now it’s time to find it a family to love it. If you are interested in taking this desk home, please speak with Sam Dickerson or email her dre@chaliceuu.org

All donations are deeply appreciated. Items can be brought to the Social Hall before the service on 4/14. If you need to make other arrangements, please contact Sam dre@chaliceuu.org

Things are changing…

If you’ve looked around some the rooms in Fellowship Hall, things are different than they were a year ago, or even two weeks ago. Childspace has been cleared. The Social Hall had been partially staged as a worship space. The old Middle School room is now a storage space. My office shelves are nearly bare. As we get closer to June, changes will roll along a bit faster. I’m excited as I plan for our reimagined RE spaces. As the reimagining continues, I hope it will energize us and bring our Chalice community closer. I look forward to how we will spend our time together through it all. Yes, there are some unknowns, and there are also some bright and intriguing possibilities. One that will not change–I will strive to maintain a warm and positive faith home for you all. I know I am not alone in these efforts. Chalice has been and will continue to be a place where children learn that people other than their parents love them, a place where parents and caregivers can feel acknowledged and supported, a place where we all continue to keep love at the center of all we do. I encourage you to share these changes with your children, look around the spaces together, ask questions, and even help out where you can. Breathe, friends. Together, we can move mountains… and boxes.

With love and care, Sam
