Family Friendly Farm Learning

Community Event at the Abundant Table Farm

Saturday, February 9th, from 2:30 to 5pm

Please join us for this fun day of learning, service, fellowship, and spiritual growth! Open to all.

The day will include a tour of the farm, a spiritually thematic grounding/exercise connected to the farm and activity on the farm (most likely weeding, gleaning and/or small work project- will be dependent on the needs of the farm at that time) designed to engage bodies, senses, and minds while exploring the farm eco-system.

The Abundant Table Farm is located at: 1012 W Ventura Blvd., Camarillo, CA 93010 Central Avenue exit on the North side of Camarillo, farm entrance just beside the 101. There is a small parking lot and also street parking available in front.  The day will involve walking on uneven surfaces and getting dirty!  Please wear farm friendly clothes and shoes. The farm is child friendly.

The Abundant Table asks for $10/head or $25/family to cover the cost to prepare for our group, have staff present, and help with their work in the community.  Scholarship funds are available.

Carrie Posey is coordinating this event.  Please RSVP to her at poseycarrie@yahoo.com or 757-375-8684 (by January 15 if possible) or contact her with any questions. As a deposit is needed, she would love to collect your fee by January 15 if possible.

For those not familiar with the Abundant Table, here is a bit about them:

The Abundant Table (a 501c3 non-profit corporation) is a sustainable working farm that provides faith-rooted, land-based and farm-to-school experiential learning opportunities for school-aged children, youth, young adults and communities. We create greater access to sustainably grown foods for the benefit of all Ventura County residents, produced from a consciousness of ecological, social and spiritual well-being.  Our mission seeks to change lives and systems by creating sustainable relationships to the land and local community.

Our farm produces a diverse yield of crops, grown using sustainable, organic principles, which we provide to local schools, sell as part of our community supported agriculture (CSA) program and donate to the local community through food banks and faith-based institutions. The Abundant Table offers innovative, farm-based programs for public schools and school-aged children to promote healthy eating, good nutrition and a greater connection to our diverse agricultural community, as well as youth development and leadership opportunities through our http://theabundanttable.org/farm-education/rooted-futures/ Seedlings Youth Immersion Project, and Episcopal Service Corps internship programs.  A grassroots, farm church community nurtures and guides our social justice and community work.

Born out of a recognition of the deep connection between our physical and spiritual needs, The Abundant Table offers opportunities for communities to connect farm work, spirituality, and social justice within a progressive Judeo-Christian tradition that welcomes people from all perspectives and backgrounds.
