Last month, the Share Team introduced the idea of exploring the possibility of an additional or alternate nickname for our congregation, in the spirit of improving our brand presence in the wider community. We are in the initial stages of discernment.

The newly-formed Identity Team will lead the congregation in a review of our name history and in activities to explore and express who we are today. The goal will be to help us articulate our essence and launch the Identity Process for our congregation.

These workshops will bring us together to share our thoughts and feelings on this subject and inspire one another.  They are the first step in the Identity Process and will lead us to a vote on whether to move forward with adding a name.

Our Process will include:

  • Workshop offered on two dates

  • Communal brainstorming; Art wall sharing

  • Nomination of possible names by members

  • Vote at January mid-year meeting whether to move forward with the name process

    If the congregation votes to move ahead there will be:

  • Two primary congregational votes to hone members’ name submissions

  • Final vote by the congregation to select a name 

  • Special congregational meeting with a vote to adopt
