“Black Like Me”, first published in 1961, is a nonfiction book by white journalist John Howard Griffin recounting his journey in the Deep South of the United States, at a time when African-Americans lived under Racial Segregation. Black and UU is my take, my experiences, my life living within the milieu of our denomination and liberal white America. This journey has been both profoundly beautiful and incredibly painful. At the end of the day is there truly a place for cross cultural, interfaith human family togetherness? I think so. Our Unitarian Universalist faith provides a model for right relationship with the entirety of our world. The only question is, are we ready to do what it takes to make this happen?
