A Sunday Chat with Your Minister

Curiosity and connection are key to a healthy minister-congregation relationship. In this interview style service, Reverend Nica will respond to questions the congregation has submitted to her. Join us for this fun, revealing and authentic summer service.

A Father’s Blessing

Some of us had wonderful fathers who have given us an enduring legacy. Others had difficult relationships with their fathers or were raised without a father. On this Father’s Day, we look at the way fathers impact our lives. Whether you’re a father or were influenced by your own father, what legacy can we celebrate or transform? What blessings have fathers, our own or others’, shared with us?

Bless You!

What is a blessing? Blessing can be an unusual word for Unitarian Universalists. Whom do we bless and who or what blesses us? Join us to explore this month’s theme of blessing and perhaps find unexpected ways to repurpose that word. As Reverend Dr. Rebecca Parker said may we “Bless the World.”

Blessing Our Youth

Every year at this time our High School seniors graduate and go forth into the wider world. This service honors CVUUF’s graduating seniors as they ‘bridge’ into their next phase of life and we pay tribute to our RE program teachers. Join us to bless and celebrate our youth and Religious Education program.

Necessity is the Mother of Invention

Wendell Berry says that: “The mind that is not baffled is not employed.” Life’s most challenging and puzzling times often give rise to the most creative solutions. Uncertainty, struggle and stuckness require us to find creative responses, which we may not have considered before. This Sunday we will explore the ingenuity and creativity of the human spirit, showing that hurdles and challenge may be necessary for us to evolve.

The Mother In Us All

Mothering is so much more than birthing and raising children. Mothering is the nurturing instinct in us all, the drive to care for, protect and nurture others. That is something most of us can claim in some form or another. On this Mother’s Day, join us to honor and celebrate the Mother in us All, and witness the many ways we care for one another and our planet.

Sparking Your Creative Spirit

“What you paint, write, sing, dance, cook, sew, compose, construct, draw, or act, can change this moment in life into something magical, meaningful, purposeful, or real. Art can save you.” (Steph Cowling) Creativity is not something to be left to the professionals alone or the few deemed ‘talented’. Creativity is everyone’s birthright. Join us to explore ways for you to spark your creative spirit and enjoy the spiritual and psychological fruits of creative expression.

From Scarcity to Abundance

“It’s not what we have that constitutes our abundance, but what we appreciate,” writes Jules Petit-Senn. Sometimes our resources feel scarce and it is hard to imagine being able to give to life, because the struggle for survival is paramount. But when we shift our focus to celebrating what we already have, we can discover an abundant existence. Today, as we launch our Capital Campaign, we focus on the many gifts we already share as a community and individuals.

The Sun Will Rise Again

After a long hard night, when it seems like the light may never return and the trials of life appear too great, nature teaches us that the sun will rise again. We embrace this message of Easter and resurrection through our Unitarian Universalist lens by celebrating our Flower communion that reminds us of the beauty of life and rebirth. Join us for this celebration of hope and abundance.

Good Friday Service

1 Service at 8:00pm
March 30 – 8 pm – Good Friday Service – Going Within – Reverend Nica Eaton-Guinn
Good Friday gives us the opportunity to go within and honor the quiet, dark places in our lives. Together we mourn the inevitable suffering in life. This intimate service will take place at CVUUF at night to honor the ending, mysterious time represented by Jesus’ death on the cross, before emerging into rebirth and renewal on Easter Sunday. Join us for a UU exploration of this Christian tradition.
