Ode to Nature

On this day before a rare solar eclipse we are going to honor nature and our relationship with it. Do you find spirituality in nature? You have probably heard people say that nature is their church. We will explore this thought in a sensory and music-rich worship service, growing out of Frances Pardee’s purchase of a sermon topic at this year’s auction. She, Katie Morgan, Rick Wells, and Thelma Williams also participated.

Resist and Rejoice – Reflections from General Assembly

12 members of CVUUF attended our UU General Assembly in New Orleans this June. Important matters for our faith and our wider world were discussed. Join us to hear the experiences of members who attended, as well as Reverend Nica’s message about our wider Unitarian Universalist movement.

The Gift of Silence

In the midst of the busyness of this world, it is important to cultivate times of silence to be able to hear the murmurings of our soul or inner voice. This meditative service will look at the gift of silence and how we might intentionally cultivate more reflection time.

The Wonder of Music

Music has precious and life-giving capacities. It can offer comfort, inspiration, and life energy. It can help us express or channel our feelings, cross cultural boundaries and serve as a faithful companion throughout life. Join us for this service to explore the life giving essence of music.

Guided by Wonder

“When the going gets rough, turn to wonder,” wrote philosopher Parker Palmer. When life events seem unfathomable and difficult, how can we use wonder and curiosity to spark new insights? Join us to explore how wonder about the ordinary and mysterious occurrences in life might guide our way.

Systemic Racism – How Well Meaning People Perpetuate the System

Recent events at the Unitarian Universalist Association have brought to light how even our well-meaning and high intentioned faith sometimes unwittingly participates in systemic racism. Together with over 500 UU congregations around the country, this service will explore how well meaning people, who would never think of themselves as racist, can nevertheless contribute to such a system. Come with open minds and hearts to learn how we can be more mindful and aware of internal biases, micro-aggressions and ways in which we might address these issues.

Arise All Women!

This Mother’s Day we commemorate the courageous and progressive foremothers of our Unitarian and Universalist faith. Join us to be inspired by the women’s lineage in our history and to offer gratitude for their groundbreaking work.

This is your Home

This intergenerational service will celebrate our high school graduating seniors who are bridging into adulthood. It will also honor the many volunteers who have served as teachers, mentors and guides in our religious Education and OWL programs. Join us to pay tribute to our youth and those who serve them. Please note, there will be … Continue reading This is your Home

Living our Faith

Together with Reverend Nica, a group of 12 congregants from CVUUF attended Justice District Assembly in Arizona at the end of March. They were immersed in issues of immigration, race, environment and intersectional justice. The weekend culminated with Sunday worship at the Border Wall. Join us as they bring their experiences back to CVUUF, and learn how these members lived their faith.
