There’s so much we don’t know – Embracing Mystery

All the world’s religions and philosophies try to explain the meaning of life. Science tries to uncover truth. But ultimately we don’t really know the answers to why we are here, whether there is a God or not, and what happens to us when we die. So today, we wholeheartedly embrace the mystery of this existence, exploring how to live when we don’t know the answers to the most fundamental questions of life.

Generous to Our Earth

This Thanksgiving, let us gather to celebrate the abundance of our Earth and to reflect on our role as stewards of this planet. What does it mean for us to give back to our earth? Join us for our annual harvest bread ceremony, celebrating the plentiful gifts earth provides, and exploring how we might be generous in return.

Generous with our Faith – New Member Service with Pancake Breakfast to follow

UUs are often shy to share Unitarian Universalism with others, lest we proselytize. However, on this New Member Sunday, we witness how many newcomers are excited by what we have to offer and how important it was for them to discover Unitarian Universalism. Today we’ll talk about how we might be generous with our faith, so we don’t keep this beautiful gift to ourselves.

Generosity and our new UU values

In June 2023, UUs voted to include Generosity as a core UU value. 7 values were chosen out of a huge possible list. Today we explore why Generosity is a fundamental UU value and how practicing it can be an opportunity for spiritual growth.

AI and Being Human

Are you wondering about the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence in our world? What is distinctly human and not able to be replicated by AI? Will this new technology create more happiness, destroy us or land somewhere in between? How can we, as a people with a heritage of values and faith in action, help shape the evolution of AI into something life affirming and positive? Join us today to begin a conversation around AI and being human.

Living in Another’s Shoes

When Rev. Nica broke both her feet last spring, she had the opportunity to experience the world from a wheelchair with severely restricted mobility. Today we explore what it’s like to deal with accessibility issues and experience life with mobility challenges. Join us to live in another’s shoes for a moment and open our hearts to the challenges many of us face at different times during our lives.

Ancestral Healing

Why is it important to have a connection to our ancestry, especially when there are parts of our ancestry we feel ashamed or uncomfortable about? Today we explore how gaining a deeper understanding of our roots helps us understand ourselves and the world better, and how connection to our past may help us heal in the present. Join us for this special service on Ancestral Healing.

You are Not Alone – Bring a Friend to Chalice Sunday (and Pancake Breakfast)

Today we ask you to come to Chalice with a friend. Invite someone who might appreciate being part of a conscious, loving spiritual community, who might benefit from the gifts of our Fellowship. Help others know they are not alone in this often challenging life, and that there is a compassionate, justice seeking community that cares, right here in the Conejo Valley. After service we invite your friends to be our guests at our Pancake breakfast, prepared by our families. Let’s show how welcoming we can be and what we offer the world.

Exploring Chalice’s Past, Present and Future

Chalice, like many times in its past, is at the threshold of a new future. We are considering moving to a new location with more space to grow, outside space and better visibility. A potential move can be exciting for some while bringing up anxiety and fears around change for others. Join us today to learn more about how Chalice has managed transitions in the past, and is envisioning an engaging, relevant religious community for the future.

You are Welcome Here – Ingathering Service

Whoever you are, wherever you come from, whomever you love, whatever the color of your skin, the shape of your body, your age or the coins in your wallet, you are welcome here. Today, we gather for our annual Ingathering reminding us we are all welcome here. Join us for our special water ceremony in worship followed by our community fair. All are welcome!
