Chalice Family Update

October 22, 2026

So I Opened the Door

Sunday morning at 10am

with Tim Snowber

Two Years Ago, the Camarillo Mountain fire burned Tim Snowber’s family home. On the same day, Donald Trump was reelected. Tim had started seminary to become a chaplain the day before. Little did he know that the Universe had the same sort of ground-shaking changes in mind for him as he progressed through school. In this service, Tim will share reflections on the transformation he has gone through as a result of opening the door to his call to ministry.

October 25–

WE Grow and WE Wonder continue their decoration of the ofrenda that was constructed last Sunday. We encourage children and youth to bring in photos of loved ones or pets who have passed to add to the ofrenda. Photos can be collected after the Ancestor Service on Sunday, November 1st.

There is no Coming of Age this Sunday.

The Simple Dos and Don'ts for Preserving Old Family Photos

Annual Ancestors Service – November 1st, 10am

As we honor those we have lost, remembering the stories and treasures they have gifted us, we ask that you bring photos of your loved ones to place on our communal altar. You may place your photo(s) on the altar before the service and collect them after. Whatever you are carrying in your heart during this time of remembrance, may you feel held by this community with love and care.

We also welcome new parent/guardian volunteer staff to support the camp, get in on leading or assisting with activities with the youth campers! Potter, Charles Francis - Dictionary of Unitarian & Universalist Biography

This Day in Unitarian Universalist History…

October 28, 1858 – Charles Francis Potter was born in Marlboro, Massachusetts. Although he began his career as a Baptist minister, Potter converted to Unitarianism in 1914. He served churches in Canada, Massachusetts, and New York and was professor of comparative religions at Antioch College, Ohio, and founder and leader of the First Humanist Society of New York. Potter served on the defense team with Clarence Darrow in the Scopes trial concerning evolution, which pitted religious fundamentalists against religious liberals in Tennessee. In 1929, Potter founded the Euthanasia Society of America. He died on October 4, 1962. ~ This Day in Unitarian Universalist History
