The iconic status of MLK creates a disservice to his service as one who embodies beloved community. Passion for justice, beloved community, and ongoing service give us the nucleus of not only King’s work but a means by which to follow our own true north.
We have been living in very challenging times, with levels of distrust and anger at levels rarely seen before in this country. Is there any way to lower the intensity of these emotions — at least in ourselves? St. Francis of Assisi might have an answer.
