Core values are something most people have. This service will allow 3 of our members – Katie Sachs, David Jackson, and Matt Chapa to share theirs with the congregation and give all those attending an opportunity to reflect on their own.

Ingathering Service and Celebration
Sunday, September 13
Ingathering is the start of the new year at Chalice! Welcome back, everyone. We hope your summer has been a joyful one. The Ingathering service is an intergenerational gathering filled with music and honoring the longtime UU tradition of the water ritual.
Afterward, we will gather at Borchard Park for a potluck picnic to celebrate the wonderful gift that is our community. See you then!

WE programs for the new year start September 20
Wondering where your young UUs might find themselves when they’re not in the service?
WE Grow – Our youngest children through lower elementary will be in Room 1 (top of the front stairs, to the right)
WE Wonder – Older elementary children into middle school will be in Room 4 (back of the hallway, at the top of the back stairs)
WE Quest – End of middle school into high school will be in the Library (top of the front stairs, straight ahead) This group will meet twice a month.

This Day in Unitarian Universalist History…
September 4, 1848 – Lewis Howard Latimer, an inventor, was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts. One of the founding members of the First Unitarian Church of Flushing, New York, he was the only African-American member of the Edison Pioneers, Thomas Edison’s engineering division of the Edison Company. Latimer was responsible for preparing the mechanical drawings for Alexander Graham Bell’s patent application for his telephone design. The author of many important inventions, particularly in the field of electrical lighting, Latimer died on December 11, 1928. ~ This Day in Unitarian Universalist History
